MATCH REPORT - SELKENT LEAGUE (Autumn): JR Spartans v Danson White - 28th Oct 12 (Home)

28/10/2012 19:03

Our fifth game in the league saw us on a winning streak of two games unbeaten. After another total mix up on the kick off times (sorry everyone, I will be checking every week now to ensure our times are as initially advised) and some difficult traffic conditions we finally got underway just after 1pm.  With George unavailable this week Kaci took on the position of goalkeeper and was also our captain for the day. We immediately started well and had plenty of possession and after 10 minutes Jack took the ball down the left and crossed to Callum who's shot went in off the right hand side post. Ugo started as our lone striker and had a great shot on goal which went for a corner. From the corner Jack put in a cross which Taran shot at goal, but his shot was blocked & Callum again fired a shot at goal which just went wide. Ugo then dribbled the ball towards the goal & put a pinpoint pass to Jack, who fired home for our second. Danson however didn't give up and after 20 mins caught us on the break, with Shemar chasing back, the Danson striker got a lucky deflection which looped the ball high over Kaci. The boys continued to push on for a third goal and after another through ball from Ugo to Callum his shot struck the post. Danson against the run of play picked up on a short goal kick and scored their second of the game. Danson were clearly boosted by the second goal and if it wasn'tt for great tackling by Finlay & Shemar and some great saves by Kaci we could have been behind. With half time approaching William joined the action for Ugo. With the whistle about to be blown for half time we got a corner which Finlay passed short to Jack. Jack put in a cross and Callum again scored his second goal of the game.

Half Time Score : JR Spartans - 3, Danson White - 2

We began the second half as we started the first, with a toe poked shot from Callum just going past the post. The good start was rewarded shortly afterwards with our fourth goal from Callum and his hat trick. After 10 mins Lovell joined the action (after being rested due an injured foot) for Taran. William was then put through by a brilliant ball from Shemar, but was just beaten to it by the Danson keeper. Both Finlay and Shemar continued to battle hard and put strong tackles in to prevent Danson getting any chances on our goal. Our fifth goal came from a long ball which William and Lovell chased. Lovell eventually got the ball and passed square to Callum who slotted the ball home for his fourth of the game. Our sixth goal came after William had a great run at goal putting Lovell through whos shot was blocked and the ball fell to Jack whose shot hit the back of the net. Danson did finally get a couple shots on our goal but Kaci pulled off several great save. Kaci then put a fantastic goal kick out which found its way to Finlay who put a powerful shot across the Danson goal. Finlay then took a short corner to Jack who dribbled into the box and blasted a shot at goal which took a deflection off of a Danson defender to give Jack his first hat trick of the season. The manager made some second half changes, Taran came on for Callum and Ugo went on for William. Our next goal came from a run down the right wing by Jack who put a great cross in for Taran to fire home. Our next chance then fell to Finlay who struck a wonderful shot across the goal into the corner, only to see it disallowed as the whistle had already blown for a free kick on the edge of the Danson box. With almost the last kick of the game the ball again fell to Finlay in a similar position in the box. This time his shot goes in the left hand corner of the goal, with Lovell closely following it in (sorry Lovell I'll give that one to Fin).

Full Time Score : JR Spartans - 9, Danson White - 2

Managers Comment - What can I say, everyone could have been awarded the Man of the Match award today. Every boy showed great commitment and concentration. Everyone wanted to win and put 100% effort in. Play like that week after week and we can really move up the league table. There was great passing, shooting and tackling all over the pitch. That's two unbeaten games in the league now. Well done to all the boys keep up the great work.

This puts us 7th in the league with 4 points and zero goal difference.

Big thanks goes to Stan for refeering the game and William for sorting out the match card.

Captain - Kaci
